The only thing subway is good for is the veggie delight. It’s a good sandwich you can’t really get anywhere else (even much better quality places because they just don’t have the ingredients). Everything else on the subway menu is wayyyy subpar and you can get better anywhere else.

Thanks for the link! I’m honestly surprised as I’ve consistently heard that public use was prohibited as it is for alcohol from the earliest days. Never thought to actually look it up since I never saw it be disputed. Interesting.

Edit: I wonder if it’s just loose language in that document making it seem like the first sentence about smoking in private is separate for the rest when it should be viewed as a global statement. Literally ever other source (including other areas of nj.gov and legal and ACLU websites) say smoking in public is prohibited.

Thanks for the head’s up! I missed them the first time and have been hoping they’d be back.

Their website says coming in April and Google seems to list their address as being in a little strip mall on Montgomery towards The Beacon. I wonder if they got a physical space.

They’re driving on roads funded and maintained by the government using fuel whose import is enabled by the government and undoubtedly living and surviving due a plethora of services and regulations provided by the government.

None of their position makes any sense at all. It’s idiocy.

First of all, what drives mall failures isn’t the economy it’s the internet. Secondly, malls are closing nationally at a rapid pace regardless of your two examples. And third, I never compared Newport to either of those two, I (quite obviously) compared Newport to the malls that are failing nationwide.

Agree regarding apple, but in a way in think malls like Newport may be more successful in the long run than “destination” malls.

Mall traffic generally has been declining for a while but, due to its location, Newport is really a combination of traditional mall and local neighborhood shopping in a fairly convenient (and walkable) location. I wonder if that will help them overcome the problems higher-end malls that require a “special trip” suffer from.

Not really much to it. Article in its entirety:

> Customers on line for their morning fix of caffeine at a Dunkin’ coffee shop in Jersey City got the scare of their lives Monday when a woman walked in and started waving a sword around, authorities said.

> The incident occurred at 40 Journal Square at 10:30 a.m., Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

> The 26-year-old, who was described as possibly being emotionally disturbed, terrorized customers and staff, but fortunately no one was injured, Wallace-Scalcione said.

Palisades is wide and not particularly busy. You can bike on it whether there’s a lane or not (based on your personal comfort level of course).

Edit: yes, yes - my mistake.
