Natural gas. From their description: > CCGT: Combined Cycle Gas Turbine - These use Natural Gas to power a Turbine which turns a Generator. A second system uses the heat to produce steam which is used to turn a turbine which powers a generator. There are 39 CCGT power stations in the UK.

Right now 5% of the UK's power generation is currently coming from biomass, to put some data on that.

nice! Proto-indo-european is fascinating how a random language that was one of thousands in Eurasia ended up basically being the root of 95% of language spoken across Europe.

Good for the people in the team, they do good work! Nothing against them. but Guinness world records is such a meaningless thing these days.

Here in the UK there's been a massive decline. Full Monty is still one of the biggest films of all time in the UK despite being nearly 30 years ago. We had a huge number of films and tv about downtrodden working class people struggling through life in the 70s-90s. Nowhere near as common these days.

The planet will still be there but if we manage to kill 90% of life in the process that doesn't mean the planet is "fine" even if humanity is wiped out.
