I understand that, just like I said about Bowie, and even Rossen, I don’t think there’s a lot of truly solo artists. You’re right though, Maury should also be just as respected and remembered as Jim.
This video of them performing always brings a tear to my eye

I’d love to throw Rush in the mix, not really as heavy as what he seems to like, but I think they’re amazing, if anything their catalog of music in the 80s is their softest music, so I’d suggest listening to their first album and then onward

David Bowie is a classic, never truly solo I guess but who is? My personal favorite is Daniel Rossen, he’s a part of Grizzly Bear and Department of Eagles, but his solo work is amazing. Almost forgot about Jim Croce, another classic

I don’t think either was too popular, but I’d say out of both their catalogs, they those songs would be the most recognizable
