Waiting for the train at TF Green on the platform and seeing it whiz past is pretty great, but Attleboro and/or Mansfield stations are the best because they’re part of a miles long straightaway and they really just open them up there.

If you’re on the Commuter Rail and one passes, the air it deflects actually flexes all the window glass in as it goes by, and it sounds like someone slammed a door in another part of a house.

They’re getting all new trains for 2023 which are much more modern and expected to be able to take most of the route at an even higher speed; up to 165MPH through Attleboro/Mansfield.

The Amtrak Acela runs through RI, it tops out at like 148MPH, it’s the fastest train on US soil my dude.

The tracks are next to 95 on the bay side, you can hear the horns when they’re going over the bridge across the Pawtuxett river. Also Amtrak Regional service and at night they run freighters too, and at certain times the MBTA Commuter Rail goes as far south as Wickford Junction.

You’d probably right because the conservative would also want disastrous policies that would further weaken RI. Or, the slightly more competent ones would make a policy that only works in the short term while giving a fortune in taxpayer money to their or their friends/families private businesses so they can blame democrats for the problems in the next election when it all falls apart.

We’ve woken up to this game after 20+ years of their bullshit which is why we’ll still take a milquetoast Dem over a grifting Rep every time now. We’re sick of the fucking games.

I think in a case like housing, economics are a secondary consideration to the social and humanitarian aspect of making sure people can get a roof over their head and participate in the rest of society. While that has effects on the economy, it isn’t the primary reasoning for doing it.

Liberals would generally frown upon direct government intervention except in emergency situations (like bailouts)

That would be “Libertarianism”, not “Liberalism”.

Two WILDLY different things.

“Liberalism” believes that the government should serve and protect people, programs such as the housing suggestion you made should exist; anti-trust should be enforced, rights should be protected and enhanced when necessary.

“Libertarianism” is “privatize everything”, eliminate any taxes and regulations, and let the free market sort it out.
