Reply to Any rock music suggestions? by [deleted]
Here's a delicious one:

The band is Maximum the Hormone. Japanese Hardcore band. Excellent sense of groove. Also, very sarcastic-sounding. Also, they have a knack for throwing super catchy melody into the mix at unexpected times.
Great for hype.
And a bonus is that the girl who plays the drums also often sings really well while she's blasting out really tight hardcore drum parts. Something to be really impressed about.

Works like a dream until number of users exceeds the size of the UAT group.

Functional programming is the future of scrambling to solve a problem fast enough to make leaders think a project finished at the catastrophic expense of future users and the next iteration of your team who realize in agony that the application was never designed to scale.

Reply to Do you make the background music first or the lyrics of a song? I'm so confused!!! by Energite0
I write the instrumental music first. But I emphasize rhythm and groove in the stuff I write.
Easier for me to write a vocal rhythm to fit into the band's rhythm and then write lyrics to put words to that vocal rhythm.
But I'll bet if the vocals are the melodic star of your show, it would make more sense to write lyrics and vocals first, then write band music to fit it.

"You Suck" by Strapping Young Lad.
A tasty preview:
"
Tell me how much they fuckin' suck!
Hell yeah they fuckin' suck
Even your girlfriend fuckin' sucks!
Hell yeah she fuckin' sucks
Oh, fuck you, you fuckin' fuck!
Hell yeah you fuckin' suck
Ah, tell me how much you fuckin' suck
Hell yeah we fuckin' suck
Hell yeah you fuckin' suck
Hell yeah you fuckin' suck!
We are the losers of all that we know!
Fuck us all!
"

Reply to Any songs about abusive parents? by mybrainreallyhatesme
I think Everything Zen by Bush kind of fits that bill. Vague in a poppy (alt rock) sort of way. I think it's about life generally sucking for a teen and domestic abuse is a part of it.
For instance, I think "There's no sex in your violence" describes a parent who is being abused.
But "there must be something we can eat, maybe find another lover" seems to suggest mom is selling herself to afford groceries.
