The white flight from Petersburg absolutely happened, almost doubling Colonial Heights’ population, but it was incorporated 6 years before Brown so integration couldn’t have been the only reason for its existence.

Honestly I don’t see how they can realistically take a lane the full distance on any of the southern routes. Midlothian east of Belt is 4 lanes, Route 1 south of Chippenham is also 4. Make Route 1 a 2 lane road and see what happens when 95 shuts down and all the traffic dumps into it.

It’s not simply being remodeled according the county’s plans in Accela. The entire site is being demoed and removed— building, canopy, tanks, and asphalt. A new Sheetz is being built with the pumps to the side of the lot instead of the front, and with the building offset to allow for a drive thru. Everything you see in the photo is headed to the landfill so Sheetz can get a DRIVE THRU. Most wasteful thing I’ve heard this week.

R22 was installed in new systems as late as 2010. If the life of a unit on average is 15 years, with some lasting longer, it’s safe to assume there are still plenty out there kicking. Even R-410A, the most common today, it isn’t great for the ozone. It is banned effective Jan 1 2025.

Months before this happened a certain alarm company that was part of this story but no longer exists upgraded the burglar alarm at work. They asked if they could have the remains of the old system because it was still in use in many RPS schools— and basically only there— and the parts were impossible to obtain.

My friend has a story about how his 60 year old parents ate at the restaurant and afterward thought it would be fun to go dancing downstairs. Didn’t turn out to be as much fun as expected.
