Reply to Massachusetts has the 2nd earliest average high school start time in the country (7:38am) by LuckyLaceyKS
Unfortunately fhey are usually too involved in enforcing arbitrary rules mandated by DESE to really examine whats best for students. We have great school systems because we have more affluent communities and a culture that values education, not because we necessarily are doing anything much better policy wise.

We could of course go back and forth about why this isnt ever addressed by Democrats. I dont want to give them an "out" but I think most wont touch it because even Massachusetts dems are frightened of being painted "anti-cop" and "pro-crime". I think they should say the assertion is ridiculous and explain how they want common sense legislation that protects people, but they prefer the tactic of shying away from these issues and trying out cop love the republicans.

Reply to Pharmacist from CVS who wants to remind people to please treat our staff kindly this next month and reminder that insurance plans to change soon by [deleted]
I really commiserate but the last few times Ive had anything but a brief interaction with pharmacy staff it ranged between them being surly and spoiling for a fight and them acting like I was an asshole/idiot because of the insurance company or doctors office fucking something up that they told me they took care of. Its like, I tell staff all the time, I know you dont make the rules, but I think your bosses are making things harder on everyone, but they're trying to start shit and acting like In responsible for the fact that the doctors office needed to be called several times or that the other pharmacy didnt transfer a scrip they told me they were going to. You get what you give and if youre burnt out and taking it out on customers, why are folks surprised the customers turn that around?

Im just talking about what an embarrassment the Mass website is. I mean, I dont mind clicking around a little more, but from a design standpoint of a government or any site, you should be minimizing folks clicking around. Bad design has consequences. We can talk about personal responsibility but the people who are in charge of that site should be applying basic desing principles and trying to make the site easier to use vs whatever it is theyre getting paid for.

If youve used the MASS.GOV site you should know its complete horseshit though. I often have much better luck using google to find something within the MASS.GOV site using google than the actual website itself. Ive done some experiments looking for specific information on the MASS website and often have to go 3 or 4 clicks down from where I think the info should be. There were also a couple times where PDFs for oarticular legal documents were dead links and I had to get them from a law firm website that had thankfully had them mirrored. Its downright embarrassing.

I think youre right, if you have a beater there is very little chance someone is going to go through the trouble at a place like that. Way more opportunities for expensive bikes at softer targets.

Where do you live that the municipalities still took matresses with trash pick up? I cant think of any around me that do. Just like with this law, you already had to bring them to the transfer station and pay separately.

I dont get why people think that because some municipalities suck at recycling it doesnt really exist. Theres entire industries you can go see operations and profitargins here in the US.
