Can you change the door? That is easier than changing the studs. Have it swing out instead of in, barn barn/pocket door, or a bifold door all take up less swing space that a traditional door that opens into the room.

Cut back on all your expenses, sell things that you don't need, visit food banks, look into rent help from the city that you live in.
If you can't afford the apartment, look for a room to rent.

The other option seems to be someone else was smoking, and there was enough blown into your room to register on the sensors.
Or, someone in your party had a cigar on the balcony and isn't fessing up.

According to some quick googling, the sensors are pretty effective. The only thing that stood out was that they may need to replaced after every third detection. Could you ask for maintenance records?
Is there any chance that a cigarette butt or the packaging for a vape or other smoking garbage ended up in your trash? Something that could indicate smoking happened in the room?

Is there a reason you can't just use a table? Hanging anything of value on a shelf suspended from hooks or brackets seems risky. Especially if people in the other storage nooks can accidentally (or on purpose) unhook things. I would either use something like a table, or two shelving units, facing each other, with a piece of plywood connecting them.

Carefully, in sections, reattached the pipes as you go seems to be the only answer. You are going to disrupt some of the pipes, as they are attached to the panelling.

I read this with my kids when my kids were little. The first one was intriguing enough. The way to cure a virus was to ... I can't even explain it ... make them live out a weird a scenario that did something to their brains and then there was a cure, but all the kids had to die??? I just couldn't finish. It just didn't make sense.

I think that OP wanted to hear: great idea, do that, cut into the studs, it's fine. They don't want outside the box thinking (different door, build a platform, pull the dryer forward), just affirmation that altering the loadbearing wall is great idea.
