Reply to comment by OhioJeeper in PA Vehicle Inspection: do they really fail a car for rust? by PivotalPosture
I used the duct tape on an old station wagon we once owned, and it passed. Unfortunately, the frame rusted through a year or so later, so it had to be junked.

In remembrance of Mr. Born, I will leave an opened package of Peeps on the kitchen counter until June, when they'll be just right to eat.

I was a state worker from late 2013 until January 1, 2021, as a Public Health Assistant with a county health department. As others have said, it's a stable job with decent pay and benefits. Our office team was very good, with excellent nurses and support staff. My hours were fixed and no weekends. I don't miss the actual job, but I do miss my co-workers. As always, YMMV. Good luck if you go for it.

Reply to Day running lights aren’t “automatic” lights. You still need to turn your lights on in the rain. by [deleted]
Both of our vehicles have automatic lights, but I usually turn them on even in the daytime, so I'm covered during bad weather and a little better protected in better conditions.

Reply to The 3 Mile Island nuclear power station near Harrisburg, PA, suffers a partial meltdown in 1979, due to coolant leakage. Though there were no casualties, the accident gave way to more stringent safety standards, and also a slowdown in construction of reactors. by LoneWolfInCyberia
My wife and I had just moved to PA from VA several weeks earlier. The night prior to the accident, we watched The China Syndrome. Remember the line spoken by a scientist about rendering an area the size of Pennsylvania permanently uninhabitable? We get up the next morning, turn on the news and WHOA!
That evening we called a friend of ours who worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg VA, the builder of the TMI reactor, asking if we "were gonna die." His words "if you were going to die, you'd be dead already." Scary times indeed.
