My intro to the series (and looter shooters) was Broadlands 2 on the PS3. I ported my save to The handsome collection, and had no idea about the story from 1.

As other suggest a story recap would be more then sufficient. I did a single playthrough of the Pre-Sequel, but had the most fun and enjoyment playing Borderlands 3.
