Yea same here. I'd rather do it a few times than grind out one awful time.

Some of these look awful. That NY flag is straight trash. And what is Nebraska supposed to be? A cracked windshield on farm equipment? The Vermont flag looks like something a first graders would design.

Hey, I found a good deal on a single cockpit tandem that i am going to pull the trigger on based in your recommendation. Thank you for the insight.
I have a follow up question if you dont mind. I have a sport rack on my car that works great for my canoe. Do I need to get those kayak hooks/racks that I see for sale or will my rack work fine? Is there a particular reason for the kayak racks, like to avoid damaging them, or is it so you can fit two on a roof?
I am picking up a loon 16 footer, it has good reviews, but it is a little heavy at 73 lbs. so still going to be a little challenge to rack it solo on my SUV.
I appreciate any insight you might have.

Reply to Some classy parking last night at OTTO in Auburn. No visible handicap tags whatsoever. Scum by coastalgirl207
Last week there was a police officer actively ticketing cars at the Westbrook Hannaford for parking handicap without tags. It was quite refreshing to see.
My father is handicap and it's brutal when they try to go someplace and can't park handicap. He needs assistance to get into and out of the car and they NEED that stripped zone. So for anyone out there that thinks it's not a big deal cause you are just running in and out. You are a selfish prick

This is great information. Thank you. I had seen a few of the single cockpit tandem models and that sounds like a great solution for us.

yea I had considered that, and that's the direction I am probably heading. But I have used an SUP on the presumpscott a few times and I had a blast. So I will probably add one at some point. I also like the idea that when my daughter is a little older she could just sit on the front and we could explore together.
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm bout to head to the river and start pouring all my ice trays in. Whose with me? The ice disk must live on. The honor of the brook is at stake.

I generally get so few kids at my door, I'd welcome some adults trying to have some fun.
The most I have ever had is 8.
Have fun, show her a good time. With age, maybe you will appreciate getting pennies or pencils more.

But owned by Mainers. So that's something. The Stanley brothers were practically like wright brothers lite. Their museum in kingfield is pretty solid spot to spend 90 minutes.

Pretty much the entire river from sebago on down offers some sort of recreation and it's getting better every year.
You also can put in north or south of Dundee dam. North of the dam offers you the lake/pond setting you are looking for.
Lots of wildlife along the river. I always see fox, eagles, deer, turtles, and fish. I have not seen the bear yet but I know two people who have.

The Presumpscot offers a lot of places to put in and paddle in relative seclusion. I put in at mallison falls and hawkes preserve pretty frequently.
You can put in a mallison and paddle 6 miles down to Dana warp and only pass 4 houses. There has also been a nice size black bear spotted recently on shore.
You can put in at hawkes preserve and paddle north all the way to gambo and there is some great scenery.
Obviously you can do both of these in reverse as well. I believe that Westbrook is currently fixing up the river access north of Dana warp to make it easier to get kayaks/canoes up and down. Anyone who has used this in the past knows it was not the easiest slope to manage
