Reply to comment by Few-Cable5130 in getting to Boston by FarStudy3278
I love taking the Concord Coach bus from Portland to Bos. The one for NH (Boston Express) appears to be the same company essentially. A clean comfortable Coach bus and a easy 1 hour ride to Boston South Station which gives you plenty of direct subway or other methods around the city. Seems only 1 daily departure from Manchester, but every 30 minutes from Londonderry. $27 round trip
Or drive to a MBTA commuter rail station (like Lowell MA) and take that into the city. Leaves every :45 to an hour and brings you to Bos North Station in about 45 minutes. $10.50 each way, or $10/day on weekends from that station (cheaper if you go to a closer station, but make up for it in reduced gas cost).

Reply to Mint Mobile??? by MaineChowder71
Try out this map for detailed coverage questions. Around a big metro like Portland you should be fine with TMobile (where Mint Mobile contracts from). Depending on how much rural travel you do is more of the question as to how well it will work for you.

What about TMobile or Verizon? If you have service from them you can get home mobile broadband. T-Mobile i know is only $50/month.

Reply to comment by spiderfarmer in Is it possible that only 4 moose imported to Newfoundland in 1904 could produce a viable modern population of 110,000 today? by SlipCritical9595
It's not like they are thinking, 'hey let's go for a long swim', but they do go into water to eat and swim and if they got turned around or a current brought them away from land or a storm came upon them, they have no choice but to keep swimming. So some very small percentage could stumble upon it that way. All you need are a couple (or 4) to get a population started, and if some new moose got added to the genepool via a water crossing that would help a genetically bottlenecked population tremendously.
And at first glance 110K from 4 moose seems like a rather large population boom. But they can produce 1-2 offspring per year, so not accounting for deaths and a best case scenario that can grow rather quickly, and if you can sustain 110K moose there are way more resources available than needed for a much smaller population so resource constraints wouldn't be a problem at least. A few decades and some luck is all they needed.

Reply to comment by Consularis90 in Would you Tip the same or at all, if the service industry workers earned states minimum wage or more. That be the case if the Question D in Portland passes. by kubabooba
Correct. Tip less cuz they'd be making more. Ideally I'd prefer no tipping at all, and that wages are built into the cost of the product. But like the metric system, it just isn't something that is likely to go away in my lifetime in the US.

I'd go back to feeling good about tipping 20%, when 15% was the norm, instead of feeling guilted into tipping even more (25%) nowadays and going back to at most 10% for takeout instead of like 15% i do now.

The Eastern Trail in Scarborough thru the marsh area is really nice. The whole eastern trail is flat and easy to walk.

If you need to buy a soda, at least get it from McD where it's just $1 for any size drink. But still if you're on that tight of a budget, even that should be avoided.

Reply to comment by 55V35lM in Town Center Mall, Short Pump by HoldingtheMoon
I left RIC in 2014 and I am surprised Stony Point is still functional as malls we're slowly dying even then and Stony Point just logistically was a terrible place. The only way to get to it is via the highway and it's pretty inconvenient to get to and there was no way to fix that. Short Pump has plenty of mall plus surrounding stores so you can make a trip and get things done with all the options close by, whereas Stony Point all you can do is go there and if it doesn't have what you want it's now a hassle to get to another shopping area.
