because of the cars you mean? i have to bike through the badlands of north philly almost everyday, twice a day. i'd say i feel more danger from cars than from some sort of random attack or shooting (and i have been doing this commute for 9 years). i would also be more trapped in an El car than on a bike if i was in the proximity of an emerging dangerous situation, and i don't think that would make me feel safer.

Reply to Ice cream truck by krizzqy

about 10 years ago, there was one in my neighborhood whose jingle thing broke, so they had to replace it, and the one they got played "silent night". weird man. i guess those things are hard to find for old ice cream trucks. you just gotta make do with the jingles they have, you know?

look man, we all know he sucks, but for lonely boomer divorcees perpetually engaged in trying to recapture their youth, he's like therapy. but when they die out, whose going to replace them? this is where i think a tiki subculture, one that OP is looking for, could start to thrive and take over-- in that cultural niche. theres going to be a power vacuum. OP might be able to capture it if they play their cards right.

thats just wire brain stuff

the human animal is fragile. but its not so fragile that we need to cater to every one of its modern weaknesses.

we didn't survive as a species for 300,000 years, colonize and inhabit the planet, endure a few ices ages and become the top of the food chain because our biological body just couldn't get up an hour earlier.

i understand i sound a little crazy. but that stuff is just tossing pillows to lay down and continue atrophying on IMO

yea, thats why i said "if i was a student"

i understand im in the minority here, articles have come up about this before. i just wouldn't have wanted an hour taken from my afternoon. i had a job i loved, i had a band i practiced with, i had a social group. i would have an hour less of that if the schedule changed.

but like i mentioned, ill be curious to see how the students feel about it after a few school years in the schools that do implement it. maybe they will like it. or maybe there will be a "study" that determines that in the last hour of school, students are just as inattentive because of antsy teenage energy as they are inattentive in the morning because of sleep/waking up early.

whether youre there an hour earlier or an hour later, school always sucks. this isn't going to change that. i consider myself a leftist, but this type of stuff is just liberal pillow throwing. turn everyone into a soft fleshed amoeba that is guaranteed by scientific studies to be perpetually comfortable. then, once all resistance and discipline of the human spirit is extinguished, they'll start putting wires into our brains. comfort will then be programmed instead of legislated. utopia here we come!!

if i was a student, i wouldn't want this. if i have to be in school for a MANDATORY amount of hours each day, i'd rather it be an hour earlier than an hour later. i'd rather be trapped and tired that first, earlier hour than trapped and antsy that last, later hour. i will be curious what the students think about this over the next few school years in schools that do the adjustment.

me and u/scumandvillany are trying to reserve it for a Marianne Williamson 2024 rally in the coming months. if elected, im sure she'll want to turn it into a MANDATORY yoga retreat and meditation center to help build back our spiritual and emotional health. with 1 million square feet of yoga, we will change the world.

me too. i can do grilled seafood if its grilled right in front of me, but even then, only rarely (like i'll usually reach for a burger or a dog instead in these cases) and only the newbie stuff, like salmon (i am not exploratory in the least with cuisine from the sea. that said, i would LOVE to be a fisherman at some point in my life. the act of fishing is way more appealing to me than the act of eating the fish. go figure). otherwise, i just can't. its the smell. and maybe indoors makes it worse for me, so by grilling (since its usually done outdoors) that helps? i have no idea. i SHOULD like seafood. my parents did and i remember eating it as a kid, albeit infrequently (but liking it enough). my dad will often get it on the menu if we go out to eat (even if its not a seafood centric place, he just likes fish). but now as an adult, im usually just put off by it, probably much like people will be put off by this comment about seafood in a thread about a new seafood restaurant! oh well, there it is. i wish them luck in their business all the same

they taste like cardboard. same with the bagels. im like 99% sure their bagels are MADE OUT OF their own recycled cardboard boxes to help save on food costs. also improves shelf stability. and when you're charging $2 for that and 16oz of liquid diabetes to help wash it down, whose really gonna even notice?

"America runs on dunkin" i hate this slogan. its disappointing. i always think "umm....can we please NOT though?" whether it is because we are in such a soul less state that all real food is disappearing and becoming processed food products and we dont even notice it, or because we are so overworked and underpaid that its all we can afford, it is WRONG that America runs on Dunkin and we NEED to change the root causes of this.

when i saw that line, i was more so thinking-- whose got italian hoagies down the block for $5? cheapest hoagie i can think of near me is $6, and its an 8" banh mi, modestly filled, a fine deal. cheapest italian hoagie i can think of near me might be ~$12ish? and its 12", obviously much more meat than the banh mi, about what you'd expect from your place down the block

i set off the lunk alarm once and they tried to castrate me. generally im a lone wolf, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a blocker when they try that shit. id obviously do the same for you. no one should be dismembered for achieving their fitness goals. and if they wanna touch my junk, they have to be lustful and passionate, not vengeful and vindictive (unless they're wearing leather).

PM me. i know a local source for cordyceps, and another one for reishi and lions mane. turkey tail you can harvest yourself fairly easily. to process it into an extract is slightly harder, depending on how you want to do it. luckily, all medical compounds in turkey tail are water soluble, so just making tea with it is gonna be fine.

please be cautious buying extract powders online. even large companies....like ones featured on popular Netlflix specials about mushrooms, are not selling quality products. some of those companies are selling their powders in bulk amounts to "mushroom coffee" producers as well (i mentioned this in the chat thread many months ago when i wasnt working all the time and could still shoot the shit). a vicious circle. if you need help determining which extracts to buy online, message me, happy to help. im a bit of a mushroom nerd :)

that sounds like a good opportunity for a small drug smuggling hustle for the zoo employee....just sayin. you already took the python from the wild, threw it in a pen, and now you're dragging it around so people from all over the place can touch it. does it have any dignity left? at that point, might as well just stuff its ass with heroin and fill its water with dissolved cocaine and hand it all off to the guy in the bathroom at noon. the daily security clearances from this program for the animal, its habitat and yourself will guarantee you safe passage and great fortunes.

the buses are the most confusing, mostly because of often unannounced detours and cancellations. the subway, the El, the trolleys and the RR are never confusing (that doesn't mean they are not sometimes frustrating though, usually because of delays, track changes [i.e. you need to board on westbound to go eastbound because of a breakdown], or skipped stops [this is due to delays, so for instance if there was a long delay because of a breakdown, and you are boarding at 11th, they might "skip" all stops till spring garden or Berks to get things moving again, and the overhead announcement will be muffled and you won't hear that detail and board anyway]).

so to answer your question-- if you have trouble with the tracks, yea, its possible you are dumb. but if its buses, no, i would not assume you are dumb from the info you have given.

i think if you touch them its like being struck by lightning and if you don't die you get special powers, for instance you might be able to talk to animals like deer and other wildlife, probably raccoons and Orcas too. if not talk, then you will be able to "feel" them, you know like vibes or whatever? so its like a non linguistic form of communication and understanding. but again, this only happens if you dont die by electrocution after touching them.
