I have to give her credit for that, because it's insane to overlook racist behavior like that, but her behavior is a mixed bag wrt Asian-Americans living in Philly:

She supported the ridiculous bill to ban bulletproof glass in stores, despite objections by Councilman Oh about how that would disproportionately impact the safety of (predominantly Asian-American) small business owners.

She also threatened an Asian-American food truck owner with, among other things, abuse of her authority to engage a retaliatory L&I investigation because she didn't like the name of the business.

Unfortunately, it sounds like people weren't getting their tips.

Fwiw, I am biased against this shop as they have consistently made less than mediocre coffee every time I've been.

I've been going to a gym (originally 12th st gym, RIP) close to there for years, and that section of walnut is very sketchy on a non-party night.

There's always aggressive homeless dudes outside of the VIP Market and across from Woody's, and going east there's usually not much foot traffic after dinner time. I've seen teens throwing shit at a drunk homeless guy, I've been followed for 4-ish blocks by someone clearly mentally unstable, etc.

I assume it's because of proximity to market east, and it's worse post-covid. But it definitely was shocking to me that a rapidly gentrified gayborhood would be so sketch.

The one at the bottom of the first hill (going west on MLK) gets opened up at dusk. The one at the museum circle generally isn't opened that early, nor the one at the falls bridge end. But you end up with cars coming down the hill and getting stuck on MLK

The weekends are great, until the dusk transition when confused random cars end up alongside the runners and bikers

Someone who claimed to know him told me that he had a TBI at some point. He used to come into seger dog park and kick dogs that got too close to his (untrained) dogs. Usually while chain smoking. Don't know his "story" but he is not pleasant to be around.

I did see a flyer he made that one of his dogs was killed by a pitbull out on the street - probably a couple years back.
