Artists aren’t free. You pay to go to Moma or the Met to view art. Why are you discounting a current local artist for trying to sell his artwork? You asked and you definitely received the answers that this group has provided. After the link to his gallery, your only response should have been thank you and bought a piece from a local artist. Or, wait for it, you could give two shits about local artists and your sister is one of those Disney nuts who just wants to know why this artist portrayed Mickey! Going with the latter. It’s like someone seeing Warhol’s soup cans. “My sister loves soup! Tell me more!”

You do understand that artists don’t just exist to make you and your “Disney obsessed” sister happy, right? They sell their artwork. It’s their livelihood. You asked, you received. Should we give you a lesson on art history and how artists make money as well? Stick to video games and leave the arts to the adults.

I would have driven on the sidewalk to get out. Problem solved. Desperate times call for desperate measures. If the jcpd were no help with an entire block taken over without parking permits, then laws don’t exist. Sidewalk driving (of course when no pedestrians were around or if you had someone to act as a crossing guard to stop pedestrians for a hot second) so you can get to work. A groups tragedy shouldn’t impede on someone’s lively hood. This should never be allowed. We already deal with street closures for god knows what, the old infrastructure overwhelmed by new construction. A backhoe sinking into the ground, an idiot contractor bursting a water main. Nope. This situation could have been avoided and someone should take responsibility for it.

I know I will continue to be downvoted for my opinion. The biggest issue is the Holland tunnel traffic. That needs to be fixed. I think we can all agree on that. Liberty state park and Columbus exits should be closed during the morning rush hour. My issue as someone who spent many years walking my kids to school in HP to now driving my kids to their school downtown is the crossing guards who are ill equipped and unaware of traffic laws. Some take it upon themselves to direct traffic, not their job. Some stop all intersections when one person is crossing to the right but prevent traffic flow to the left. And the pedestrians? Half on their phones, others chitchatting with the mom nearby approaching an intersection, waiting for their scooter kid to catch up, has held up other parents at other schools who don’t have the luxury to live in close proximity to their child’s school, sipping lattes at the corner, making it seem they might want to cross, stopping all traffic. Please. Is it frustrating yes, but it’s not an issue of the community, it’s this fucking administration who can’t figure out that we should be able to exist as a community without the onslaught of the commuter population. And I’m sorry OP if you are getting nearly run over so often, maybe take a look inward.

Interesting, a park being used by by families and schools in an urban environment?! How dare they!! What about the dog only sections, they’re no better and most people don’t want to plop down for a picnic or have their kids play in an area where dogs are shitting and running free. They’re just as bad. Lack of sun and overuse by ALL. Thank your demigod Fulop for over developing and not having any foresight into infrastructure.

You have a lot more to deal with if your child isn’t born yet. I’d spend your time looking into Gymboree classes, swim lessons, and other groups for new parents. When you child is 3 or 4 school becomes more pertinent. As others have said public school is based on location and that isn’t even a given. PS 16 is the highest rated JC public elementary school. Even when I lived in the district there wasn’t space for my child so they would be bussed to another public school. LCCS was the next option but while my friend got a lottery number of 3, I got 134. Needless to say, my kids don’t go there but my friend is thrilled with the curriculum. Many of the private schools offer financial aid. You’d be surprised what qualifies for it. I make a good living. But the nouveau rich who have moved in make so much more than me, they can afford $20k per child for a private education. You can qualify to receive 90% of tuition covered at many private schools.
