It's normal. The phone will automatically throttle the processor and reduce brightness to stop it from overheating.

Yup, think about how some glass and tile cutters work, they basically put a deep scratch across the surface and that creates a weak point and allows it to break almost perfectly along that line.

Many people don't use one and have had no issues, many will have installed a screen protector from day one, and many are walking around with broken and scratched displays.
It certainly doesn't hurt to use one and it will protect it from scratches, however as most breakages occur from the edges of the display, it's unlikely to protect it from a drop if it catches it on a weak spot.

Yes, and just like anything else, you'll only generally find people complaining about issues online, rather than the vast majority who are happy with it and don't feel the need to post how it's all working well.

If you find a bug, you won't be sorting it out, the next update will be, the same as if you were on Android.
I wouldn't worry about it too much as iOS 16 is quite mature so the point releases are pretty minor.

Pretty much every release will have bug fixes and sometimes they introduce some new bug. That's just how software is nowadays.

Reply to Cooling Phone with Water? by Thundering_Love786
The phone is perfectly capable of managing its own thermals. If it starts to get too hot for the CPU or battery it will throttle the performance until it cools down to safer operating temperatures. The chipset can handle getting pretty hot.
You do your thing and let it worry about the rest.

I have a 13 Pro Max and it's stopped working with wireless charging a couple of times, but both times a reboot fixed it. Hasn't happened for almost 6 months though.

I think it's more the lighting in a store is a lot brighter than you'd have at home and in many office environments. Also you're not using it as you would at home or sitting at a desk. It's not a true representation of your use case. Even from day 1 I never noticed it unless I tilted it and looked for it.

I had the Fold 1, 2 and 3. You don't notice the crease when you're using it. It's only really noticeable when the display is off or you're looking at it from an angle.
I don't see the point of the Flip but the Folds are great phones, just not as durable so I went back to regular phones.

That piece looks nothing like any part from an iPhone. I mean maybe you need glasses or something, but looking at photos for iPhone parts you can clearly see there’s no part of the grill or earpiece assembly that looks remotely like that.
I’m happy to be proven wrong next time you take an iPhone 13 apart, but from my own experience repairing the odd phone, and from tear down videos, and parts catalogues I can’t see why you’d think it’s from OPs phone.

Show me an iPhone 13 with a silver speaker grill with large holes like that and pointy edges.
When you realise you can’t, you’ll realise why you’re being downvoted.
Yes, it’s likely a speaker grill, but no, it’s not from an iPhone 13. It’s the wrong shape, colour, and design.
It’s likely that the magnets in the iPhone speaker attached this bit of magnetic trash and caused OP some confusion about it.

Reply to Possible to keep the battery capacity "healthy" by charging it not more than 85 %? by SoWeVibinNow
I've seen many people state that, and yet I've never cared and never had a problem. The oldest phone in my family is my mothers and her iPhone 8 is 5 years old and has 86% battery health. She charges it overnight every night and sometimes in the day too,
I rarely keep phones longer than 2 years so it's never been an issue for me, but my wife's iPhone 12 bought at release is now on 91% after just over 2 years. Hers is also charged overnight every night.
People tend to get a bit obsessed with battery health, but all batteries will degrade over time, there's nothing you can do to prevent it, and inconveniencing yourself and not getting the full experience out of it seems like more hassle than it's worth to just delay something that's inevitable for a little while.

Reply to I do not have a solution to "passcode-gate" by mblend27
For an end user the solution is multi factor authentication every time you want to use your phone. It already exists as an option on some privacy/security focussed Android custom builds, usually using an NFC tag, or by having to use both a PIN/password plus biometrics.
It's not very convenient so the vast majority of people wouldn't use it.
For corporately managed devices mobile device management solutions exist which can prevent the user from doing certain things, or from having access to certain things so there's more security there to protect corporate data and access to remote resources, but this isn't something most end users will have the knowledge or money to implement, and again, it's not very convenient due to the limitations.
