This will not work as long as there is no cap in place for expenses like utilities and property taxes. This will kill smaller home owners and reduce available apartments for rent thus allowing corporations to further hike prices.

There's also an assumption that our power, water and sewer systems can support this expansion.

That's more than the entire GDP of some countries! We really should be doing more to control costs and ensure the money is being used wisely.

Its far past time for the city to be out in force and ticketing people blocking the box, blocking sidewalks, running stop signs and otherwise being aggresive. To be fair, they can ticket the cyclists and jay walkers too.

Biden's energy policy has directly lead to increases but this isn't even entirely his fault -- its everyone over the last 20 years who have refused to build more nuclear plants to facilitate our ever growing energy needs. Renewabls are nice, and we should continue with that, but there's no way it will meet our needs alone.

NYC can purchase some land upstate and build them some homes.

I think a lot of these schools need to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up but that will never happen and cost 100x the amount it should if they do.

The plot passes on to the appropriate next of kin. In the event there are no next kin (and sometimes with older plots even when they do), the cemetary will try to reclaim the space to use for additional graves.

The plots are property that is owned by the person who purchased it (for themselves or family) or their relatives/next of kin. The government would have to secure the land via emmenent domain which is usually frowned upon.

That said, europe has some beautiful cemetaries that are also public parks. I am not sure why we couldn't accomodate both here.

edit: also a lot of cemetaries in queens are north to south, I think it would have been better if they were more east to west. If anyone wants to hop in the delorian and propose that idea, please do.
