I live in Astoria which is pretty close to LGA and I'd say it looks like we got like 2-2.5". It's all slush today though, so hard to get a solid idea.

The answer to 1, 3, and 4 are all that they're elements to make you unsure if what they're saying is true or if they're crazy. It just isn't done to great effect.

Do you set your own thermostat or do you have radiators with a boiler in the basement? The boiler in the basement is for the entire building and there is no legal standing to have you pay for the cost of heating that. If your lease says gas is not included and you have radiators, it means cooking gas, not heating gas.

Gas needed for hot water and radiators is considered part of the rent and is the landlord's responsibility, not yours. You only pay for cooking gas. If your gas bill is that high, there is something incorrect happening. My gas bill is usually like $30/month and I cook constantly.

I know, the absolute nerve of people going to college bars that aren't still in college. Next thing you know, you'll find out people who aren't poor go to dive bars. What is the fucking world coming to?

Those places have a WILDLY different vibe than the places in the city. If you don't like the places you listed in your original post, then likely your friends don't like the bars in Brooklyn you like. Nearly everyone in Bushwick and Williamsburg is also a transplant. But the bottom line is not everyone wants to hang out in a semi-dive like Johnson's or Rocka Rolla. You're comparing apples to oranges and then looking down on people for not sharing your tastes.

What are the better places you're trying to take them to?
