The actual title on the article is “25 per cent of COVID patients become ‘long haulers’ after 12 months: Mac study,” which is not uplifting news. Rephrasing it to emphasize the number that recover is misleading.

Additionally, the article makes no mention of ME/CFS which is one of the more dire outcomes falling under the Long Covid umbrella. ME/CFS is a recognized outcome of infectious illnesses like Epstein-Barr and has a recovery rate of something like 6%. Further, the illness is so debilitating that 25% of patients are bedridden or housebound. While most will recover following a Covid-19 infection, some will not, and at the rates that the virus is circulating, even a relatively small percentage left disabled after each infection will have profound consequences on a population level. This article provides little real information to help readers understand what the longer-term consequences of Covid will be.

Check the exterior of the window carefully, on the sill, edges of the sill, and where the window meets the siding and caulk with silicone caulk. If done right, that should be a passable fix to get you through the winter. Post pictures back here if need be.

For the drywall, you should remove it and patch it with a new piece. I can’t speak to any concerns about the moisture barrier though.
