I did a tour, and not a hard hike at all. They drove us out to the entrance, and we walked through. When I went, there were several options and I think it took the "middle" one, but I recommend taking whatever option gives you the most time out there. I did feel a little rushed, even though I was able to get several images I love.

I've been up here in all kinds of conditions, but this was absolutely the most beautifully clear day. I was showing my parents around the Big Island for their first trip, so it was fantastic timing.

Mahalo! I've hiked down a few times, but that road needs some work before I'd feel comfortable driving down even with a manual transmission.

Good point... I must have done the upper canyon because I didn't do any ladders or stairs, but I definitely need to get back.
