I never claimed abuse wasn't rampant in the Catholic Church. I do not deny it's a closed community. I just think it's incredibly stupid and counterproductive to pretend like it's something rampant in all faiths, denominations and sects. Harping on and on about the Catholic Church isn't going to change that, just reinforce my point.

Also, who are "they" exactly? A lot of clergy do have good names, and support and help their local communities without diddling kids. I don't have a religious bone in my body but I don't let my lack of belief tarnish my opinion of all clergy, of all denominations and sects. Only an idiot would do that.

Clergy is a pretty broad term and there are lots of denominations/sects where child abuse just isn't a major issue. And despite what reddit often loves to think, an accusation is just that. An accusation.

If it helps, they’re truly wonderful and weird books.

The main antagonist is my favourite in literature. Iago is but a child beside his grit, patience and ambition.

The prose is rich and beautiful. Just read the very first paragraph and you’ll see.

It’s a world, albeit a small one, that you’ll never forget. Full of detail and mystery and the quirkiest of characters.

Also it’s actually three books, you just have them in one volume. Take them one book at a time. The second is the best.

The first two are my favourite books of all time and I re-read them most years. The third is good too but quite different.

All that said, they’re not books I’d recommend to get back into reading. Maybe a Pratchett instead.

For me, Squid Game had a more "iconic" aesthetic and better character drama. Alice in Borderland had better games and a better setting. And the dreadlocks girl. Overall I prefered Alice in Borderland, but I'm not surprised Squid Games resonated with the public more.

Given the ending, they definitely seem to want to leave the door open for a season 3, but don't expect to get one.

Could you give me spoilers on the motivation of the King of Spades though? They teased that in a pretty annoying way.

I’m up to about episode 5, having watched episode 1 the day it aired. I’ll finish it eventually but it didn’t wow me in any regard. It’s good enough TV but not something I find myself rushing to watch.
