Reply to German scientists show a commercially feasible method for cyanobacteria to extract 17 rare earth elements from low-concentration sources. Currently, most of the world's supply of these elements is mined in China. by lughnasadh
LOL. So instead of an AI taking the China miners jobs it will be a "Cyanobacteria". I bet they didn't see that one coming.

Like everything else ChatGPT has a drawback. From its creators, "ChatGPT sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers." This means that sometimes it's impossible for humans to tell if ChatGPT 's answers are true and accurate or just flat out wrong. Not a good attribute for ChatGPT to possess.

Cool design. Looks like a two seater with little or no luggage space. Range with electric cars is always an issue. Anyone know the range when fully charged? Small batteries seem to imply limited range.

Reply to Would like to say that this subreddit's attitude towards progress is admirable and makes this sub better than most other future related discussion hubs by Foundation12a
The vast majority of visions of the future depicted in books or movies contain at best only some dystopian aspects. Most are entirely dystopian. I can't offhand name any besides "Utopia" that have good versions of the future. Can you?

Reply to HVDC macrogrid would reduce climate pollutants and electricity costs while transmitting low-cost renewable power by manual_tranny
This works if there is no need to convert DC power into AC power at the receiving end of the transmission line meaning all homes run on DC power only. The DC to AC cost is expensive ( not included in the calculation of cost/KWh) and requires a large power plant and separate lines to do the job. May happen in the future but not until all homes only require DC and not AC power.

Can't wait until the first AI reads his paper and disagrees with him.

Reply to NASA announces its unidentified aerial phenomena - A 16-people team — including an astronaut, a space-treaty drafter, a boxer, and several astrobiologists — will soon begin its review of unexplained aerial phenomena (UAP) for NASA research team to examine mysterious sightings. by yourSAS
LOL. Since the Team is heavily weighted towards extraterrestrial expertise, it's highly likely that they will be prejudiced toward explaining the phenomenon as possibly extraterrestrial in origin because that is the area in which their expertise lies. Probably should have just had some plain old weathermen since a lot of the UAPs seem to be weather related.
