Perhaps they're saying that because it can only output text. Multimodality is limited to images + text as inputs.

People will be disappointed because they don't understand the relationship between model complexity and performance. There's so many irresponsible and/or uneducated articles suggesting that the orders of magnitude increase in the number of parameters will translate to orders of magnitude performance gains, which is obviously wrong.

How would this work in practice if the allowable prompts by your character are predetermined? Wouldn't this just amount to having ChatGPT writing the dialogue scripts for a game, rather than being some actual dynamic plugged in thing?
