We don't have any statistics and Hifiman sounds like it's a popular brand in this sub so it's a bit problematic to draw conclusions.

It could be just that its sheer popularity could cause so many of these posts to pop up.

I'm convinced that Hifiman's quality control is terrible due to all these posts and the problems are pretty systematic as well. Should be easy to fix with higher quality solder, right? Maybe not as I have no idea what really causes drivers to lose contact

I ordered Hifiman Arya SE as an open box deal directly from Hifiman half a year ago. It came with a bad cable: Contact issues on the 6.35mm end due to too short contact part and too long plastic cover over it. Of course I got a new cable from them but it was another 1 week of waiting.

Yeah. I can dig them even with stock sound but they're definitely better with some EQ to tune down that bass.

The good thing with the sonys is that I at least can't really hate them, only dislike. While I can't listen to the DT1990 without EQing the mount Beyer down, the 8kHz bump. It's too piercing.

The box should only be used to get the headphones to the customer without the product breaking on the way.

Saves environment anyways and it can't be used to justify costs. Those that really need to carry their headphones around can buy one separately. Though it's pretty nice that my DT1990 came with a carrying case but everyone doesn't need one so it should be a separate product as well. So wasteful.

Although we as customers might still just be getting less for the same price. No idea how sennheiser or any of the other competitors lower their prices in long term if they stop including nice boxes or carrying cases

I wish I could so I could buy the comfiest headphones out there.

Even with oratory's EQ presets as in all profiles from the same source all my headphones sound quite noticeably different. HD598, DT1990, Hifiman Arya SE and the samsung galaxy buds+ after EQ.

They're closer to each other with EQ but every time I swap to the Beyer DT1990 from the Arya and vice versa I notice that the DT1990 has more micro details in bass instead of being this big slam. In addition the DT1990's electric guitars sound a bit muffled in comparison and with some specific music the soundstage just isn't there. The HD598 really lacks in micro details in bass. The Arya not nearly as much.

These aren't huge differences but noticeable enough for me to swap between both every once in a while to spice things up.

I guess so... I always hear people talk about sennheiser's HD600 series and I wish I had a pair just so I could relate and understand the fuzz. I have tested the HD660S briefly at a store and I think they certainly have that Sennheiser veil of which I'm not a fan of. Owning a pair and getting to know and used to them is another thing though. Still, I don't go around talking shit about the HD600 series like that. Need to be constructive and fair.

He's entitled to his opinion and there's the possibility that he has heard some kind of ringing with a pair of hifimans of course. So here's me hoping for a reply about the ringing.

It's a little word game at this point. Are we talking about objective neutral or subjective neutral. Even objective neutral could be just harman neutral or a completely flat FR response if you ask me but what do I know, I'm just an enjoyer with limited experience.

Every time someone mentions neutral I'm a bit confused because they might mention a headphone that I don't think is neutral.

How it all sounds to my ears, I think the Hifiman Arya SE and the DT1990 with analytic pads and with oratory's EQ (except not with mount Beyer) are pretty neutral so I guess something like flat lows and mids and the harman treble bump. Arya being more neutral than the Beyers in my opinion.

The hifiman Anandas don't sound neutral to me as their bass is even too "boring", as in lower bass isn't there. Other than their bass, they're neutral in my opinion.

Although maybe I'm mixing my own preferences with neutral here.

I once tried glitter. Nowadays I would never consider using anything less than the freshest (NOT fresh frozen, don't fall for that one) hand squeezed organic fairy dust on my cables.

If you got no money, you can't have audio. With glitter you might as well be deaf.
