This thread is pretty rough.

This is a specific situation with the Satmar Orthodox sect presence in Orange/Rockland county. They are one of the most conservative Hasidic sects (fun fact: this sect is fiercely Anti-Zionist). One of the main tenets of Judaism is protecting your health, and many of the Orthodox Jews that I've talked to say that their rabbis tell everyone to get vaccinated to protect their health. They all were very enthusiastic about it, and emphasized that they were first in line for each shot, etc.

As well, lots of Orthodox day schools provide robust secular education along with religious teaching, and send many of their students to elite universities. Some of them even make their school days longer than normal so they can fit complete secular education in.

The wide generalizations are frankly a bad look; there is an entire community of hundreds of thousands, belonging to many sects. It makes the community a scapegoat. Do not blame it on all "Hasids" like people in this thread are - it's just not true, and further propagates hate. I hope you all understand my perspective
