Reply to In a post-scarcity utopia, is there a real necessity of human labor of any kind? by kvothekevin
Labor, leisure, rest.
As AI and automation reduce the need for physical labor, labor will take on other forms. It will likely be a boon to the arts, education, and care (hospice/elder/etc).

I'd recommend checking out the works of Jacque Fresco.
While I am not really a fan of 'the' Venus Project, I am all for 'a' Venus Project.

While you were downvoted by blue-line-zealots, you raise one of two points:
1: For the FBI to employ the tactic of using CP as a guise to obtain information and circumvent the 4th is not unheard of.
2: The only way to know the result for sure is to wait for the trial, which there often isn't one, because the matter is usually pleaded to avoid embarrassment.

Reply to 11 East Cleveland officers indicted; videos show them beating, kicking suspects, destroying evidence by eastbayted
>"The real victim here was the entire city, all the citizens of East Cleveland, who had to live in a city with fear. To do everyday chores, to get simply pulled over and the fear of what may happen when they were simply pulled over or perhaps confronted while walking the streets. And it’s hard for me to imagine what they’ve had to endure," O'Malley said.
I might be dim, but I believe the dude getting curb stomped by 11 officers is probably the real victim.

This is the way..... that I did it once in the past and it worked well for me. I believe I used the Ace branded green cap. Notes are: break-up the work into 1h increments due to arm fatigue. It's a real mess, so prep with plastic, including runners outside of the work area for wet/white bootprints. Wear a hat when removing the wet popcorn.

Reply to Shut off water between well and pump by genitor
Note... Depending on the type of well/pump, you may have to prime it after making the repair.
Fill a 5-gallon bucket with water 'before' you make the repair.

If the room is empty and you are prepared to cleanup afterward... An electric leaf blower.
Used it when moving out of a house and prepping to sell. Just blast them and use a vac to clean up whatever comes out. Cleaned a dozen 50's era radiators in under an hour.

No. We can obtain sufficient methane/methanol/triglycerides/etc during waste reclamation and do not have a societal need for additional petroleum based fuels beyond this brief period of legacy ICE support.

Reply to Customers report problems with Zelle transactions on their Bank of America accounts by iAmTheHYPE-
Forgive me, as I wrote off BOA as a scam institution in the early 2000's and haven' done business with them since in favor of using actual banks.
Is the world at large unaware of BOA's issues? Is there a circumstance where people are unable to obtain accounts at a finical institution other than a scam mill like BOA, GS, or WF? Is BOA currently portrayed as a legitimate financial institution in the media?

>So where is your rocket to space mate? Not everything invented ends up in your home or civilian hands.
When I was a young teen, my potassium nitrate + sugar rockets made it to just shy of 4000m before I ruined my mother's kitchen and had to stop.
I guess my point is: Everything is already in civilian hands, but a residence is not suitable for working with extremely high (or low) energy densities.

Cue the bit about never needing more than 256 qbits

Pet peeve:
A "Security" camera is a camera that secures something. EG: A camera is on one side of a locked door and someone monitoring the camera authorizes the door to be unlocked.
A" "Surveillance" camera is a camera that does nothing to secure something and simply records/views. EG: It provides a record who goes through an unlocked door.
