We also spent the last 50 years villifying the trades and pushing 4 year college degrees on everyone to the exclusion of all else. It's no wonder we don't have any trades people anymore when society has been calling people dead end idiots for going to vocational/trade school for two generations now.

We are entering into a period of history where you either need to be able to do things yourself or be fabulously wealthy if you want to own a house or have things fixed. Problem is of course that building even a small house is a massive undertaking beyond the ability and time budget of most people. I built a Tiny House and, though I would probably be able to do it faster a second time, has taken me years to do by myself.

Bayonet charges usually were terrible ideas. Melee is chaotic, and usually a disaster for the charging force in the era of rifles onwards. Something something Pickett's Charge. They were relying on scaring the rebels off which was a huge gamble. Charges get a lot of clout in movies, but in reality they are usually just as bad if not worse for the attacker.
