There are a bunch of factors. One of those though would be the ocean, which does take longer to change temperature.

1987’s supernova in the maggelenic cloud was visible to the naked eye, though dimly.

True. Also, most of the uv from the sun at the earths surface is uva with a little bit of b. Most of b and c are filtered out by ozone and such. So, not the most effective wavelengths
