I had a Series X but sold it a year ago, because I play my PS5 a lot more. I rarely touched my Series X. PS5 has much better first party exclusives, most third party games are better optimized for the PS5, most of my friends play on PlayStation, and PS5’s game DVR is just so much better.

Game Pass is good, but most of the catalog didn’t interest me.

At this point you're basically invested in the Xbox ecosystem, so I'd keep both if you don't wanna lose those 60 games. As someone who owns a PS5 and is a huge PS fan, I'd hold off on buying a PS5 because there just aren't enough exclusives at the moment to justify paying $500 and you can play most of those exclusives on the PS4 anyway. However, if you've never owned a PS4, then it might be worth it.

Not at the moment. Game Pass is a great deal, but PlayStation's first party games are better. PlayStation's UI, Game DVR, Share Play, and Share Screen features put the console on top for me.
Xbox still has a ways to go. They haven't had a compelling first party game in years. They have one now in Starfield, but we don't even know if that's coming out this year.

In the future? It's possible, but it all depends on how they utilize these acquisitions and what these studios can create in terms of a first party library. Xbox also needs to work on appealing to a broader market outside the United States. PlayStation is more popular because Sony does a better job marketing their system in more console markets. Xbox also needs a better game DVR and more social features like Share Screen and Share Play.

  1. Wrong.

  2. You actually see the PC market, post-pandemic? Those components are overpriced and not worth it.

  3. Console games go on sale all the time.

  4. Consoles are sold at a loss. Manufacturers recoup those costs via subscriptions and games.

  5. Upgrading your PC still costs money. Depending on what you’re upgrading, you’re still paying more than a new console.

Can we get a pinned thread? I feel like I see this question at least once a week.

Also PS5, if you want high quality exclusives and a better social experience with friends because of share screen and shareplay. PS Plus is also great value with a large catalog of games and you get free games every month that you can keep forever so long as you’re subscribed.

Xbox Series X if you want GamePass, which is the best deal in gaming. Hundreds of games, including day one Xbox exclusives, access to EA Play and Ubisoft games.

I got a PS5, because my last console was the PS4 and I wanted to stay in that ecosystem and have access to all my games and trophies. There’s nothing on the Series X I want to play right now.
