I know that the source of the waste was from weapons manufacturing and not a plant, but this is one of the reasons why I'm so vehemently against nuclear power. On paper, it's absolutely fantastic, but humans are not infallible and the potential consequences are astronomically higher than solar or wind. Do I want a world with clean, nuclear energy? Absolutely. Would I trust humanity to responsibly use and maintain nuclear energy? Absolutely not. Our track record for responsible use of resources is pretty atrocious.

Sounds like this woman knows she's not right in the head and sought help. It's terrible that she didn't realize that until after killing the cats but at least she did once she started feeling like cats weren't enough.
