My opinion has always been that you don’t need great lyrics to have a great song. Great lyrics are always a fantastic addition that elevates the music, of course, but the music itself is where the magic lies. We made language in an attempt to communicate things that music can without a single word.

I kind of think DSotM is the greatest album of all time because of that perfect front to back experience. It’s so totally complete and it has everything you could ever want: incredible songwriting, otherworldly production quality, masterful musicianship, great signing, moving lyrics, unified themes, total cohesion. I think I’d pick this one, too.

Albatross Birdbath by Steel Beans this dude blew up recently because of a video of him playing one of his tunes on guitar and drums at the same time while singing so I jumped into his other stuff and damn he has a lot of great music
