I just don't think I've ever heard someone use the word "billed" in this context.
I interpreted what you said as "wait until they charge you for it, then pay" which I interpreted the charge as the interest.
I think it's also because nobody would ever pay a balance before its billed (like, pay in advance on the credit card I guess?) so it makes it hard to interpret your advice I guess.
Just a misunderstanding.

Do not pay interest on a credit card if at all possible. It does not help your credit score.
I'm not sure if that's what you meant by "letting the balance be billed" but if it is, it's bad advice.

Get a HYSA with Ally and use the "buckets" feature to make separate savings goals (can add dates too). You can allocate all the money in the savings account into separate buckets.

I think people should do the math themselves to estimate their PMI rather than just consider it a non-starter. Mine shook out to an additional $30 a month-hardly the back breaking expense I was expecting given how people talk about it. Yeah it's money just going away, but I was able to get a good first time home buyer program my state has and keep my cash to stay liquid. The cost was worth it for me.

Totally agree - I recommend this book to literally everyone. I think it's so important to think about before uncomfortable decisions actually have to be made. I even brought it up with my doctor during my physical and I'm only turning 30 this year - just to make myself get comfortable talking to a medical professional about this stuff.
At this point in my life, she said the most important thing is having conversations about these topics with people who could end up making decisions for you when you can't for whatever medical reason.
