That explains how the property we bought in Ferry County was so inexpensive! Seriously though, while all of the stats you gave are undoubtedly true, it's really a beautiful county.

We made an assumption the whole town would be deep red, unfriendly and ignorant and, thankfully, that hasn't been the case.

Having said that, I'm not sure what the point of your post is - if others don't move and try to lift up the county, or spotlight all the inadequacies, how will it ever improve? Do we just wipe it from the map and pretend it doesn't exist?

Badlands

I hadn’t heard many good things about Smile, but so glad I gave it a shot! Sosie Bacon was excellent and the tension stayed high. The final scenes were deeply creepy.

Atlanta was phenomenal. We only started watching it this last year, just in time for the finale.

It’s kind of bittersweet, but I really love the ending of The Family Stone.

Ah, got it. I thought you were specifically looking for slower / slow burn movies. The Witch is definitely that, but if the period in which its set doesn't appeal, you would for sure find it boring. Personally, I loved it, right down to the archaic language. Midsommar was also a heavy favorite of mine, as was Hereditary. All three kind of hit that sweet spot of creepy for my tastes.

I'm going to catch Smile this weekend and hope it's right up that same alley!

Have you seen The Witch? Definitely fits the bill. Also, Midsommar, which isn't really horror so much as a creepy study of grief.

Speaking of the Sand Bar, I miss Index Cafe! I've never eaten at the Sand Bar, but I did love chicken fried steak & eggs at Index Cafe.

Ok, romantic was your must have and I don't recall if it fit that bill or not, but the best Italian food I've ever had was at Il Terrazzo Carmine. A boss took me there for lunch like ten years ago and assuming it's still as tasty as it was. The entrance was in Post Alley and it was, to me, a hidden gem. Some fancy priest was in there, with the full garb on, and people kept approaching his table like he was a celebrity.

Would you say it's colder than Lake Chelan? Even when it's 95 degrees in Chelan, the lake can take your breath away in late spring. Just curious...

I cannot count the number of times I've driven by this lake, admired how absolutely GORGEOUS it is, and never stopped to swim. Next year's bucket list includes Crescent Lake.
