It’s been done many, many times before… the Japanese were doing it all the way back in WWII…

They don’t, actually. For camera or radio imaging, sure, but for signal scooping, you need to be in atmosphere due to the way radio waves reflect off the ionosphere. That’s why the US is flying radio signal intelligence aircraft in the Black Sea instead of just using satellites to intercept Russian radio communications and gather intelligence.

The US Navy does a ton of work in naval enforcement, right of navigation, and other essential duties to keep trade freely and legally flowing across the ocean.

Land of extremes, including weather.
A little while back when solar was first booming the neighbors a few doors down got solar panels on their roof. Was real proud of it and talked it up how in 8-10 years it’ll have paid for itself.
2 years later they were all destroyed by hurricane Sandy.
They no longer have solar panels.
