Look up the Sonderkommando Elbe. Nazi Germany, in the waning days of the war, had an entire special unit made to do just this. They would climb yo and use steel propellers to “prop chop” big bombers then bail out, often flying into the formation so the B-17s and 24s couldn’t shoot at them without risking hitting their Allie’s.

There was a great episode on it on the History channel in the early 2000’s. Luftwaffe’s Deadliest Missions from the show Dogfights.

I learned it as an American kid in the 2000’s in the Boy Scouts. We sang it all the time to the point even the Scoutmaster yelled at us to “Leave poor Hitler alone!”

To his credit he realized what he said afterwards and we all laughed.

The government of Greece at the time wasn’t really a colonial power. It was the Sublime Porte, AKA the Ottoman Empire. It was an Empire in the classical sense. They conquered regions and attempted to rule them as a part of the country, as opposed to forming extraction based economies.

Now that doesn’t make them benevolent- like most empires they were backwards and they were later called the Sick Man of Europe for a reason. But colonialism is actually one of the major reasons the Ottomans declined, as it allowed Europeans to get the resources that traditionally flowed across Asia Minor via sea lanes, and in some cases they even conquered the origin points ending what was their traditionally largest source of income.

I’ve only had one and was going to say the same. The bank absolutely scrutinized ALOT. And winter is the worst time to buy a house no doubt. I can’t imagine getting a job and three months later buying a house, you’d be laughed out. Now if it was a transfer or something like that, or just switching jobs sure. But not just starting a new job and assuming the bank would be fine with it.
