There are companies who take a few thousand dollars to attempt data recovery from damaged hard drives. But that’s about it. Do you have a backup on a computer?

There are 2 things that can happen:

(1) you decide to install something that pretends to be an anti virus app but really it is messing with your system so you feel dependent on paying them.

(2) you give your phone into someone else’s hands unlocked and they install profiles or a jailbreak before giving it back to you.

Yes and yes. And then you select it as your contact in settings- contacts - my info. Like this the phone can understand where to take you if you say ‘ take me home‘ and stuff like this (remind me to wash my hands when I get home, how far am I from work, call my wife …)

Any device slows down as the battery reaches the end of its life. When that happens just replace the battery.

By not using that AppleID

I had 7 cent to get rid of before being able to change country after we had moved. I called Apple and they just removed them from my account. That was years ago though. Don’t know if they still do that or if there is a better way.
