I can't support this objectively, but Song to a Seagull is the Joni Mitchell album that I happen to enjoy the most.

There are bands that I enjoy as much as Genesis, but none of them had such a long run of excellent albums.

A single powered speaker will do the job. There are inexpensive ones that will do the job just fine there. Try something like the Alto TS310.
Shield the mic against feedback.
