"End of lease" is not a means to evict someone. It would be absurd in any other contract that the end date is completely nullified if one party decides they no longer agree to the date they signed for. But that's the case in NH leases.
It's really a problem the NH supreme court created. Since "end of lease" is not one of the outlined reasons for eviction you cannot kick someone out when the lease ends as long as the tenant keeps paying. It effectively means every lease end date only ever applies if the tenant decides to leave.
It's an absurd ruling, but perhaps a correct ruling if you believe lawmakers should do their part and write laws carefully. And here we are with a really simple adjustment to correct the law. It's unfortunate that the author Jeongyoon Han did not take a sentence or two to examine the vary strange current situation and instead used a rather confusing quote from a law maker.
I think it's a step in the right direction, frankly. One of the reasons why so many landlords are bad are because the good ones get the hell out when they learn how difficult of a position the law can put them in.

Tailgating is a good option. Food at the stands is subpar and overpriced.

I'm waiting too. Sure the temps are higher now, but we have some cold weather ahead still and I would prefer to be boiling on those clear sunny March days.

What diameter are they at the stump and how many? A tiny machine can do a big stump, but it will take a while and you'll spend more in hours. You'll want to size the machine appropriately.
A hydraulic thumb to help lift the stump out is nice. I'd ask if they have a "frost ripper" that you can rent in addition to a digging bucket for the machine. It can help avoid disturbing as much earth (look up "removing stump with frost ripper").
If this is an area you want to be grass, plan on how you are going to fill it. Stumps leave a big void.
I agree with the other poster that if you can wait a year or more they are easier to deal with.

Can you get away with only opening up the side? Maybe. Maybe a kid will bump the wall and crack open the top inside corner joint that is not well supported.
Your best bet would be to do it right and add blocking on the sides and ceiling. Do it right the first time and you don't have to second guess it later.
