5 months isn't very long. It's not surprising that you don't know everything about him yet. But that's part of the process. I'm sure it won't be the last time either of you does something that hurts the others feelings. What's important is that you learn from it, help him with it if he wants/is ready. With luck you'll be saying stupid shit to each for many years.
