I don’t care about how many books I have, I think about how many I read. That’s the point of books. I don’t like to pay a lot for books that will sit on a shelf. I buy inexpensive ebooks or audiobooks but I get most of my books from the library. I have access to 2 great library systems. Why do I need books laying around not giving enjoyment to others. I own about 50 books from going back to junior high. They have special memories but other books I owned I have given away and I don’t have much space.

I read a lot of audiobooks and have had experience with some of the worst narrators to the point I had to send the book back. I made it a rule now that I will only take the book after I listen to the sample. In Audible every book has it. If you can make it through the 5 minutes you will learn to appreciate new narrators and also weed out the ones you know you won’t enjoy.

Agree. Especially the pretentious ‘reviewers’ who relate their opinions as though it’s the only opinion. They summarize the plot that’s stated in the publisher’s description just in case we missed it at the top of the page. So the 3.0 range to them is their stamp on a literary right to read. I’ve learned to scoff at these reviews because I have rated books at 2.0 and under while the reading world is rating the same book 4.0-5. They’re just individual opinions. I’m always reminded of Edmund Wilson “No two people read the same book”. Then I feel better.
