I worry that with 80% accuracy, it may be condemning the remaining 20% to an unnecessary death.

The EPA has been gutted so badly that they aren’t able to do much of anything anymore. I know people who work there, and they’re all extremely passionate about environmental protection: they’re just short staffed and their ability to actually regulate is often limited.

It says recycled plastic, so it is probably just generic plastic combustion byproducts - the same thing you’d get if you burned plastic in your house. It’s really toxic stuff!

Or at least make the fines income-based. So if a company makes 20 billion in profits per year, make the fine $40 billion and redistribute it to help those who were impacted.

I think it would be useful. Phones are getting so big that they no longer fit into pockets, but a foldable phone would solve that by allowing you to fold a much larger phone in half, and fit more processing power/disk space in it.

I don’t trust “pure data” statistical studies unless they can back it up with a convincing and well-established mechanism. Data alone can tell you whatever you want it to, if you look at it from the right angle.

Reply to comment by Tanagashi in Effect of COVID-19 Vaccines on Reducing the Risk of Long COVID by mightx
Aren’t long covid rates like 20% total? So even if you’re vaccinated/boosted you still have a 16% chance of getting long covid? If so that sounds awfully high, and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. 16% of the population having a debilitating and incurable medical condition sounds insane - and it gets even worse if you think about repeat COVID infections potentially increasing the risk. I wonder if that means the entire world will eventually develop long covid via repeat infections over several years?

Without unions, no one wants to be “the one” who takes the risk of losing their job. Even if you feel you’re being treated unfairly and paid like garbage, without said pay your life would be a lot worse.
