Those people want someone to pour thousands upon thousands of dollars into updating the houses to make them safe and livable, but then to rent or sell those houses out at or below cost so the people that already live there can afford it. Which of course no one would do that.

Oakland, it’s not that big of a place you know you can travel to other parts of the city, right? There’s been plenty of average at best Mexican food places with craft and foreign beers in Pittsburgh for a long time.
Zoomers go to some chain restaurant and act like they’re some Michelin pioneers. Next week you’ll be telling me about this amazing innovative ribs joint named Chili’s. Good lord

Wait, do you actually think they invented the concept of getting people drunk on margaritas while they eat cheap combinations of tortillas meat and cheese?

Because the percentage of absent black fathers blows the number of absent white fathers out of the water. 58% of black children are without their father compared to 20% of white children.

How is that unfair? The whole point is they’re paying a premium for a less than ideal living situation.

Poor renters are the most likely people to end up with default judgments, and the most likely to appeal on eviction cases. The appeals process is usually to the BENEFIT of the tenant. This case is just an exception to that general rule

I promise you that de novo appeals of magistrates decisions IS a tenant protection, and one of the best there is. This is one of the rare cases where a landlord is using it. The overwhelming majority of the time it is the tenant appealing de novo, which buys them months more time in the property on eviction cases.

Thats completely irrelevant to the issue of the city not doing anything with the property they've taken. No one lives in the homes being discussed in the article, unless they're squatters.
