But in this case Sears didn’t go out of business. They just said - “We aren’t going to honor that warranty that we told you would last for your lifetime anymore. You can buy a new less comprehensive warranty every year but you have to pay us for it annually”

Thanks for the reply. It was a sincere question.
I’m going to guess most of the r/pittsburgh crowd runs in a different circle though.

How would somebody “notice” this?
Wouldn’t you have to be a person with a warrant who was involved in a police encounter to know whether or not police are checking for warrants?

I stayed here too. Way nicer that Fort Pitt motel and you are within walking distance to Zone 28 for your date night.

She was the board president when the contracts were awarded then she conveniently stepped away while everything was physically being built and the bills were piling up. She often says that she wasn’t president during the time the deficit was created which is technically true but she was in charge of setting the wheels in motion.
From what I remember the architect was a friend of hers and had no previous experience with a project of this type. The architect was also a major reason the project went so over budget….. using imported tiles from Italy are one thing I remember, another was some type of crystal chandelier.
It’s been a few years since I really dug into it so I don’t want to misspeak on any facts but be sure, I am not one with a favorable opinion of Mrs. Vecchio.

The school board president is the same as when the district got into financial distress in the first place. The “old guard” hasn’t changed.

Try Plantscape in the strip? I know they design/maintain “landscaping” in corporate lobbies and such. They may do event rentals as well.

Changing a full tail light assembly is pretty simple. I had to do it on my SUV and was nervous about it but I changed both lights in like 20 minutes and it was easily done. Ease of installation depends on the type of vehicle I assume but I’ll bet you can do it with a little help from a YouTube video.

When I was young I would always blow off my local taxes because I couldn’t file them online like my other taxes. I would usually get a letter from a collection agency about 3-4 years after and I would just pay it then. With a COVID slowdown of a year or two I could see this process dragging out even longer.

I’m no expert on this but this but the government doesn’t usually send you reminders to pay your taxes. You have to be responsible for that yourself.
Your house was probably reassessed after the sale which caused the initial jump.
Once again I’m no expert but I believe they will contact your employer and garnish your wages for overdue tax bills as well.

Are you looking to actually move to the city of Pittsburgh or a suburb close by.
People who live far from the actual city limits still refer to themselves as “living in Pittsburgh”

That is not what urban means and I suspect you know that. There is no stretch of the imagination that you can say that is what you meant by “urban”.

I had the same experience. Just asked for a quote and got a 90 minute hard sell presentation of buy right now or the price goes up by double or something. (I don’t remember the specific amount but it was very significant). My wife and I laughed at him and said “yeah we aren’t making a 20k decision on the spot if you want to honor your price when we make our decision we will give you a call”
He got visibly pissed off and said there is no way that is possible and we can only get the discounts today. He starts muttering about us wasting his time (we had no idea we were getting a 90 minutes sales presentation) and how nobody ever calls back if the don’t take the deal immediately.
Fuck that guy
