People really don't want to put a name to the christian nationalist movement. I guess if you refuse to give it a name it doesn't exist? Idfk

5 years ago I told my husband that I would lose my right to choose and he laughed. He said I was panicking over nothing - that would never happen... And yet here we are.

I wish I knew how to better convince people of the increasing threat of this Christian based extremism. They know how to manipulate their runs for office, they said what 50 years ago they were coming for the supreme court so they could overturn Roe? And look, they fucking did it! If they can successfully undermine what is possibly the highest power in our country... They can utterly fuck your state's government, too.

This isn't your classic backwoods KKK Christian BS, this is a much more palatable extremism with a friendly Christian face but it's a movement to push us towards a theocracy none the less. And in a country supposedly based on religious freedom, their progress to push their beliefs onto non believers through legal punishment/persecution should be terrifying. But people just don't see it.

They're too exhausted trying to survive. I am, too, but my gut feeling tells me to get out while I can. If this movement doesn't slow, I don't want to know what this country will look like in 20 years.

When I ask if the local fire department should operate on an individual pay system (where if you don't pay they don't put out your house, but if your neighbor pays they have an obligation to protect your neighbors house from your fire) my Republican relatives all very adamantly say no. And when I explain we all collectively pay taxes to protect other people's house fires they nod and say yes. And when I'm like... But that's a socialist benefit... They get angry with me and redirect the subject to well we can't overdo things like that.

If they can't concede that there are even benefits to public services that they are ACTIVELY benefiting from... I don't know how to reach them. I give up.

The amount of times I've been told "If you don't like it here then just leave..." Is insane. But yes, I'm actually working towards moving out of this country because I fear for my future here.

I really wish the ppl voting republican understood what they're doing to all their female relatives. They're blatantly saying: I believe you, as a female, deserve less rights than me. Your health and well being should be determined by someone else. And that's just abortion.

That's not even getting into the domino effect of ultra conservative legislation. Cut support to needy families so it further compels them to seek profit through crime because you gotta feed that kid your girlfriend wasn't allowed to abort.

We're so fucked as a country. I just hope enough ppl vote this election to buy the rational silent majority time to fight back.
