The stuff the looks like film is lard. It’s pork cooked pork fat, the lard covers about 80-90% of the meat

It’s how the top gets crispy. There lard about 90% of the way up, so the bottom is juicy and the top is crispy

I use magnets to find studs, I’ve never had good luck with stud finders. Your stud finder probably uses a magnet or something similar, and where you taped is where the screws are. You can assume the studs run vertically where your tape is.

Removing that concrete is going to be a massive pain in the back. Unless you want something to grow where the concrete is, I would cut the pole at the base and call it a day.

Can you find out if your sprinklers water supply enters your house? If so, the shutoff is probably there.
Either way, I’d clean out your sprinkler box.
