Batteries have basically always been able to store more energy than caps. That's what makes supercaps compelling. They store more than caps, but are faster than batteries.

Lead-acid batteries are charged as soon as they are filled with sulfuric acid.

This is a reason people with bigass car stereos add capacitors. Large sudden power draws like amps driving large bass hits can cause equally large drops in system voltage. The capacitor act to "stiffen" the system by providing reserve of current that can be drawn and replenished much more rapidly than a battery can. This keeps the voltage more consistent.

Reply to TIL that in 1979, a charity special episode of the academic student quiz show "It's Academic" was held between a team of three Democratic U.S. Senators, three Republican U.S. Senators, and three members of the press. The special was handily won by the press team. by FranklinDRoosevelt32
Becoming an elected official doesn't require knowing things as much as it requires knowing how to convince the most people that you know the right things.
Basically, democracy self selects the people most adept at fooling and manipulating the most people.

Money exists because bartering is inefficient. That's all.

A system that accomplishes good things because of greed is better than one that seeks to do so in spite of it. Greed always wins. Better to use it than fight it.

Rather liberating isn't it?
The only real difference is that I expect companies to only care about money. That makes them predictable. It's the government people that are problematic because they're supposed to be elected to represent us, but they don't in varying degrees.

Really good point about the delta-V. I hadn't thought of that.
