There is a significant difference in bass and treble definition when jumping from onboard audio to a dedicated dac/amp combo unless you are using a modern audio codec like the ALC1200. Most dedicated USB dac/amp combos will sound very similar of not the same after that, with exception to valve amps.

Good is not always reliable. JDS Labs and Fiio are IMO the reference for budget/midrange. Ifi Zen is good too but you need to purchase the power supply separately for high impedance headphones.

The beyer 770 Pro have some very strong bass with a more relaxed treble compared to the rest of their lineup. It's a shame you had back luck with the Sundaras as planars do have a great bass response
