Because they mention trash also. Yes for the cardboard your township or borough are supposed to have drop boxes available for recyclables. Some localities are still refusing to do it. Also all landfills and transfer stations should have recycling bins at the entrance.

You're options are, get a dumpster from one of the hauler companies (Michael bros etc), take it to a transfer station (cheaper than the landfill), or take it to a landfill. The landfills don't always allow private people up on the main dumping area but may have a container by the scale house.

My dad would haul the while family out there once a year to try to find good deals for our seven member family. Us kids would be excited at first and then realize it was just another terrible shopping trip. Highlight of the day was the cheap ass hamburgers. God forbid you had to pee, as the men's bathroom looked as if people just opened the door and peed right on the floor.
