All I know of Charlie Chan is his Amazing Clan cartoon.

But I had no issues with the character, and I would have no problem with him making a new appearance in today's times, especially with the Shang-Chi/Everything Everywhere crew handling him.

Alec Guiness played (I think) nine roles in Kind Hearts and Coronets.

And in India, veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan played nine roles in the experimental film Navaratri.

And while people may be sick of the MCU, there is Tom Hiddleston's Lokis and Jonathan Major's Kang.

Doesn't the spectacular almost always take precedence in cinema over the ordinary?

And British cinema has evolved and grown over the years. WOrking-class stories were once a solid niche, now they are more relegated to TV.

That said, Vera Drake was a fairly recent working-class tale and it did get enough attention.
