Sounds very much like Ben Goertzel's approach and despite him not delivering on the AI front, I think he is very much correct that scaling a language model to get to true, general intelligence will never work. Language is a necessary but not sufficient quality of higher intelligence.

The hopium is really strong in this one. We are barely scratching the surface in neuroscience and no AGI will just magically alter physics to give us better access to a messy, chaotic wet mass of flesh of our brain.

I have com to terms with the fact that you are either an accelerationist and just want to get "it" done or a neo-luddite. I don't think there is much if any hope that humanity sits back and asks itself "how should we go about ushering it the next and maybe last human age".

Which isn't how the real world works...for whom are you gonna write your automated gitpilot code then and how do you even know what function your code should fulfil? There will always be meetings and legal and regulatory paperwork you have to deal with.
